Pregnancy
You are during an exciting time of your
life. It can also be stressful.
During stressful periods our oral hygiene
often wavers, and so our teeth suffer for this fact.
Bleeding gums.
Gingivitis (or bleeding gums) during
pregnancy is associated with hormone changes. During this period
it is very important to improve your brushing.
If you are worried then regular visits to
your dentist will help.
Dental Treatment
Generally dental treatment is avoided
during pregnancy. Since 1998 it has generally accepted by
dentists that if the treatment can be left until after the birth
then leave it.
Morning Sickness.
Your stomach contents are often acidic and
it is important to rinse your mouth with water or a fluoride
rinse after each episode of morning sickness. Brushing should
not be avoided only delayed until later during the day when
nausea has reduced.
·
Helpful tips
·
A small headed tooth brush or even an electric
toothbrush will help. Smaller brushes are less likely to cause
nausea.
·
Slow brushing may help reduce the problem.
Visit your dentist.
